What's up fam!?
I recently started a new posting schedule within the Running Secrets Facebook Group. (By the way, if you aren't a member, what are you waiting for?)
Every Thursday, I will go live within the group and answer questions. These questions can literally be about anything! Running, training, eating, sleeping, recovery, you name it.
This week, our feature topic was all about heart rate.
Measuring and monitoring heart rate while running can be a powerful tool!
Here are some key things to remember when you monitor your heart rate:
1. Heart rate values change depending on where you obtain the values. In other words, your HR on your wrist will be a different value than your chest.
2. Heart Rate straps are more accurate than wrist HR monitors!!!!
3. Values also vary depending on how snug the strap is on your wrist or chest.
4. When comparing HR values, keep apples with apples and oranges with oranges. If you record your chest HR values, don't compare them to your wrist values. If you monitor your chest HR, always monitor your chest HR.
